You may think that you have to be a mathematician to learn how to code - Manchester Codes is a part-time coding bootcamp which will prove to you otherwise. Over the course of 24 weeks we will teach you the fundamentals of software development, enabling you to build powerful database-driven applications.
By the end of the course, you will have learnt a new skillset and built up a portfolio that will not only make you highly attractive to employers, but will allow you the freedom to go on and start your own venture. Coding is the future - a future that you can be part of, and we will be there for you every step of the way!
Additionally, we also teach HTML5 and CSS3, allowing you to make applications that are visually appealing. You’ll learn how to set up your development environment effectively, so that you can spend more time coding, and less time worrying about how to get things set up.
Most importantly though, we will teach you programming concepts such as Test-Driven Development and Object-Oriented Programming, which will really make you stand out from the crowd.
Lessons take place two evenings a week. There is a face-to-face lecture at the start of every lesson where you can interact and ask questions. To reinforce the concepts you have been taught, you will then pair up and work on a project with another student - guided by our bespoke structured walkthroughs.
Each week you will be given an additional project to work on at home, as well as some further reading to help consolidate what you have learnt so far. We recommend you spend an additional 20 hours a week working through this material at home (ideally over 7 days in order to reinforce what you have learnt).

Over the duration of the course, you will be practising Pair Programming - pairing with a different student every lesson - and there will also be opportunities to work on projects together as a team. You’ll get to know each other on a personal level, and you’ll have the opportunity to make new friends.

We aim to market the course in a way that makes this happen, but we appreciate that this doesn’t go far enough, which is why we also offer discounted places and fully-funded scholarships - ensuring that everybody has a chance of success.

This includes but is not limited to: women, BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) individuals, the LGBTQ community and people with disabilities.
However, we also recognise that diversity - and the people who contribute towards it - comes in many forms, so we would also encourage applications from those who have encountered adversity and hardship that could understandably be seen as a barrier of entry into the tech industry.
In addition to discounted places on the course, we also offer 2 fully-funded scholarships per course. Applications for these places are currently open to anybody earning less than £20,000 per year (consideration will be given if financial hardship can be demonstrated above this amount).
